The free game European championship 1951/2 was the 3rd tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from 13th to 17th December 1951 in Saint-Étienne . It was the first free game European championship in France . The tournament was part of the 1951/52 season.
history
The Belgian Clement van Hassel was able to successfully defend his title in Saint-Étienne, France. The same goes for the second-placed Dutch ex-European champion Kees de Ruijter. For the first time after the Second World War, German players were eligible to play again. In the end, however, Siegfried Spielmann from Düsseldorf only finished seventh. The tenth of the tournament Alfred Reus played for Saarland, which was then administered by France.
mode
The game was played in a preliminary round with five and six players "everyone against everyone" up to 500 points. The top four in each group made it to the finals. Results of the eliminated players were not included in the final round and did not count towards the final ranking.
