1999

The Free-game European Championship 2000 was the 29th tournament in the discipline of Karambolagebillards and took place from 1 to 5 November 1999 Udenhout, a district of Tilburg , instead. It was the fourth free game European championship in the Netherlands.

history

After many attempts, the Belgian Patrick Niessen finally managed to clinch his first international victory. In the final he defeated the rather unknown Dutchman René Luysterburg 400: 41 in two shots. Luysterburg only came into the main field as the 'Lucky Loser' because the defending champion Fonsy Grethen had not reported. Third place went to Dave Christiani and Jordi Amell, who had played the best GD of the tournament. Udo Mielke also had a great chance at the semi-finals. But after a car accident he canceled the last match in his group and missed his chance. A win with a 'normal' performance would have been enough to advance. So Christiani got on.

After the last World Cup was played in the Feien game in 1969, the European Championships are now over. The last tournament in this sport of carambola took place in Udenhout.

Tournament mode

Two qualifying rounds were played, in which the top seven players could qualify for the main tournament. The game distance was 250 points in the pre-qualification and 300 points in the main qualification. In the main tournament, the defending champion was added. Two groups of four players each were formed here. The best two players from each group qualified for the semi-finals. The game distance was 400 points. Third place was no longer played out. There were two bronze medals.

In the event of an MP tie in the final table, the following order was taken:

  1. MP = match points
  2. GD = general average
  3. HS = maximum series
