The Kirchhorst amusement park was an amusement park in the municipality of Isernhagen in what was then the district of Hanover , which is now united with the city of Hanover to form the Hanover region . The park was located on the eastern edge of the Kirchhorst district on Bundesstraße 3 in the vicinity of a larger nursery.

history

The park opened in 1971. In reference to the neighboring nursery, the park was initially called "Blumenhof" and was renamed "Wunderland" in 1977 as the area was further developed. Most recently the park was named "Kirchhorst Leisure Park". The last operator was the Kirchhorst Bembom Brothers GmbH amusement park .

The parking area initially had a size of around 80,000 square meters and had parking spaces for around 3,000 vehicles on both sides of Bundesstraße 3, which were connected by a pedestrian bridge. In the course of further development of the park, the park area was expanded to around 100,000 square meters.

In 1986 the amusement park was closed, probably because of high official requirements and high lease fees. The park area has been largely unused since then. Remains of some attractions as well as paths, bridges and buildings are still standing and make the park one at Urban explorers popular Lost Place .

In 2015, the Kirchhorst local council held a public meeting to discuss its use as a petting zoo with an adjacent horse boarding house .

Attractions

Initially, the park had a terrace café, a Wild West town with climbing frames, a pony riding track, a stream with electric boats, a model train, a vintage car track, a bouncy castle and, from 1974, a go-kart track. The then largest parasol in Europe served as a canopy for the park restaurant.

In 1980 the park was taken over by the Dutch entrepreneurial family Bembom, who built numerous other attractions on the park grounds. These included:

In a study by Stiftung Warentest , in which the “10 largest amusement parks in Germany” were tested, the park was rated “good / satisfactory” in 1984.
