Kirchhorst is a district of the municipality of Isernhagen in the Hanover region in Lower Saxony .

history

Kirchhorst emerged in 1929 from the once independent villages of Großhorst, Kirchhorst and Stelle. On March 1, 1974, Kirchhorst was incorporated into the new Warmbüchen community, which was renamed Isernhagen on June 1, 1975. Kirchhorst kept two volunteer fire departments . These are the volunteer fire brigade founded in Kirchhorst in 1932 and the volunteer fire brigade founded in Stelle in 1912. Kirchhorst received literary mention through the "Kirchhorster Blätter", Ernst Jünger's diary entries from 1944/1945. In it he describes the bombing raids on the nearby Misburg and Hanover , the disintegration phenomena in the last months of the war and the invasion of Allied troops. During his time in Kirchhorst, Jünger lived on one floor of the rectory next to the church. The place consists of many older houses and farms as well as continuously newly created building areas, which are integrated into the existing local population.

The draft emblem of Kirchhorst comes from the in Isernhagen born and later in Hannover living heraldry and crest painter peoples Gustav , who has the coat of arms of Großburgwedel , Melle village , Wunstorf has designed and many other towns. The approval of the coat of arms was granted by the district president in Lüneburg on May 4, 1965.

Kirchhorst coat of arms
Blasonierung : "In Silver an inverted, curved, red with three (2: 1) silver lilies occupied tip comprising a spoked, black wagon wheel overlaps up to the middle, accompanied by two green oak leaves ."
Foundation of the coat of arms: The von Cramm family used to be wealthy in the community. The three lilies were taken from this family's coat of arms. The number three was also chosen because the municipality of Kirchhorst was formed from three districts. The wagon wheel is supposed to symbolize that Kirchhorst is located on Bundesstraße 3, which developed from an ancient traffic route. The oak leaves indicate that Kirchhorst also has a rich oak population.

Culture and sights

The St. Nikolai Church is an attractive monument. It was built in the 14th century, but stands on the foundations of a much older Romanesque chapel. It is worth mentioning the frescoes in the choir and on the interior walls as well as St. Nicholas as the patron saint of the church.

In the immediate vicinity of the church are the elementary school, the day care center, the youth leisure center and the meeting place.

Large forest areas and meadows, including the Altwarmbüchener Moor , directly border the village. The Kirchhorster See was created during the expansion of the BAB 7 at the end of the 1950s through sand extraction. It was officially inaugurated in 1969. The lake has an area of 4.8  hectares and is up to 7.5 m deep. There is a public bathing area. Around two hectares of sunbathing and resting areas for bathing surround the lake.

Economy and Infrastructure

Companies

The Kirchhorst amusement park existed until 1986 , which was probably closed due to excessive regulatory requirements. The park offered a number of recreational opportunities, such as a roller coaster , mini golf course and a ladybug run. The remains of the buildings, such as the main entrance, the restaurant, bridges and the champagne bar, are still there today. The park's looping track is now known as “Vertigo” in the “Zoomarine” amusement park near “Pomezia”, 20 kilometers south of Rome .

Until 1992 there was a drive- in cinema in Kirchhorst , which was reopened in 2001. After the project failed again, it was finally closed and its remains have since been removed.

traffic

The main road through the village is the former B 3 . Since the construction of the BAB 37 in the 1980s , the B 3 has been relocated to this and thus outsourced from Kirchhorst. There is a convenient traffic connection to the motorways 2 and 7 from the village .

Several regional bus routes lead to Altwarmbüchen (the final stop of the Hanover tram ). A bus line runs through a number of towns to Burgdorf ( Burgdorf train station on the Lehrte – Hamburg-Harburg railway line ), from where the Hanover S-Bahn runs. Some bus routes connect Kirchhorst with many places in the north, including Burgwedel and the local train station on the Hanover – Celle line , which is served by regional traffic.
