Heinz Koberg (* 16th March 1914 ; † 1. May 2013 ) was a German editor , photo - chronicler , author and documentary filmmaker .

Life

Born at the time of the German Empire , Heinz Koberg lived through the Weimar Republic , the time of National Socialism and the destruction of the later Lower Saxony state capital through the air raids on Hanover in World War II .

After 1945 Koberg worked, among other things, as an editor and photographer for the Neue Presse and at the same time recorded the development of the city on film for more than a quarter of a century, from the beginning of the reconstruction in 1945 to the modernization phase of the 1970s.

Only after decades did the public become aware of the historical importance of Koberg's works: Kobergs documented in particular the city of Hanover, which was around 48 percent destroyed in 1945, and how the state capital reinvented itself during the reconstruction, for example under city planning officer Rudolf Hillebrecht .

Heinz Koberg also published books such as "Our Isernhagen " or about mills, churches and monasteries in the Hanover region (see the section on writings ).
