The Society for Film Studies (GFS) in Hanover was originally founded as an association for the promotion of film studies activities in Lower Saxony . The institution is engaged in scientific research as well as in the presentation of film history topics.

history

The organization, which was founded in 1989 as a registered association , organized various exhibitions , for example the movie theater shown in 1991 . Cinema in Hanover 1898–1991 in the Theater am Aegi or Wir Wunderkinder. 100 years of film production in Lower Saxony , which was shown in 1996.

Since 2004, the JRC has also placed a focus on securing, utilizing and presenting historical 16 mm films , particularly about the capital of Lower Saxony.
