The amusement park Lübars is a 1975-1993 scale and 39.6 ha large amusement park in the south of the Berlin district Lübars in Reinickendorf district on the border with the district of Pankow . The large housing estate Märkisches Viertel adjoins it to the south .
Lübarser Höhe
The core of the Lübars amusement park is 85.3 m above sea level. NHN high artificial hill with a stacked natural stone circle on the summit. On May 13, 2010, the hill was named Lübarser Höhe in a ceremony . Previously, suggestions for names had been asked across Berlin, and 187 suggestions were received. A jury consisting of the district mayor Frank Balzer ( CDU ), members of the Protestant youth and welfare organization , which operates the youth farm, and Gesobau as the largest landlord in the neighboring Märkisches Viertel had chosen the final name. Between the completion of the greening work and the naming, the administration used the name Volkspark Lübars . The area served as a garbage dump until the 1970s , when it was closed and gradually converted into a park: topsoil was placed on top of it and bushes and trees were planted. Many residents of the surrounding area still simplify the name to garbage mountain , they say "We go to the garbage mountain".
History and description
The Lübars amusement park , which was created in 1975 as a necessary leisure-oriented addition to the densely built-up Märkisches Viertel, offers a youth farm as special features , the Lübarser Höhe with a flight slope suitable for gliding and a 300 m long ski and toboggan slope with floodlights. There is also an adventure playground, hiking trails, bike paths, sunbathing lawns, barbecue areas and viewpoints. In the winter of 2004 the first skate track was dismantled and replaced by a halfpipe made of plastic. This material is too sensitive to temperature, when it is warm it expands and bulges form in the web. The use is therefore severely restricted.
