Frank Balzer

Frank Balzer (born November 17, 1964 in Berlin ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and since October 2009 district mayor of the Berlin district of Reinickendorf . In addition, since February 22, 2019, he has been the district chairman of the CDU Reinickendorf and chairman of the Hermsdorf branch.

Life

Frank Balzer has lived in Berlin-Reinickendorf since he was born.

After graduating from high school, he studied at the University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Justice in Berlin and graduated with a degree in administrative management (FH) . Initially he was an employee in the Reinickendorfer district administration , later he worked in two senate administrations ; most recently as personal advisor and office manager of the then Senator for Federal and European Affairs Peter Radunski .

Political activity

From 1992 to 1998 Frank Balzer was a member of the Reinickendorf District Assembly .

In November 1998 he was elected to the district councilor for the first time and took over the social and sport department, which was expanded to include citizen services in 2001.

From November 2006 onwards, he was Head of Construction and Sports, and from May 2009 also Head of Finance.

Frank Balzer has been district mayor since October 2009 and is now in his third term. He was also head of the finance, real estate and human resources department and has been the head of the finance, human resources, urban development and environment department since 2016.

In May 2019, Balzer was also elected as deputy state chairman to the Presidium of the CDU Berlin .

In August 2020, Balzer announced that he would run for the next election to the House of Representatives in the Reinickendorf 6 constituency .
