Frieda Ritzerow

Frieda Ritzerow (born January 1, 1834 in Mechelsdorf , † after 1887) was a German writer .

Frieda Ritzerow was born as the daughter of the manager Johann Joachim Burmeister at Gut Mechelsdorf, today part of the parish of Bastorf near Rerik in Mecklenburg , and his wife Sophia, née. Dowel, born. All we know about her future life is that she worked for twelve years in the five leading hotels in Mecklenburg. In 1864 she married the private and language teacher Bernhard Ritzerow in Rostock, who also worked as a translator. In 1867 she lived with her husband and daughter Emma (* 1864) as a widow in Rostock when their daughter married (1887) . After that, their track is lost.

Frieda Ritzerow became known through practical instructions and self-tried recipes, which she wrote as a Mecklenburg Cookbook. A counselor for all who are devoted to the art of cooking, especially for Mecklenburg housewives and those who want to become one, first published in 1868. The cookbook has since seen more than 20 additional editions.
