Friedel Helbrecht

Friedrich "Friedel" Helbrecht (born June 25, 1933 in Osnabrück , † October 5, 2009 ) was a German architect and soccer player .

life and work

For VfL Osnabrück he played as a defender in the Oberliga Nord and was president of the club from 1971 to 1977.

Helbrecht came in 1953 from Raspo Osnabrück to VfL Osnabrück, for whom he completed 21 appearances as a defender in the Oberliga Nord. Two years later he left the club and concentrated on his studies.

He then worked as an architect and civil engineer in Osnabrück. Among other things, he built the building of the Detmold City High School and the commercial college in Ibbenbüren . On May 19, 1971, he became President of VfL as the successor to Eduard Piepenbrock and held this office until March 1977, when he was replaced by Hartwig Piepenbrock .
