Friedemann Stengel

Friedemann Stengel (* 1966 in Eisenach ) is a Protestant theologian .

Life

From 1986 to 1992 Friedemann Stengel studied Protestant theology in Halle (Saale) , Neuendettelsau and Bonn . After receiving his doctorate in 1997 as Dr. theol. In Halle he was a research assistant at the historical institute and at the chair for church history at the theological faculties Halle and Jena from 1998 to 2003 . From 2002 to 2004 he completed the vicariate in Halle-Neustadt , which he completed with the second exam and ordination. From 2004 to 2010 he was a research assistant in the DFG research group 529 The Enlightenment in the reference field of modern esotericism at the Interdisciplinary Center for Research on the European Enlightenment (IZEA) in Halle. After receiving his habilitation in 2009 from the Heidelberg Theological Faculty, he was the full-time professor of modern church history in Halle from 2010 to 2018, as its owner, Udo Sträter , was rector of the University of Halle during this time .

Stengel has been a Scientist in Charge in the Horizon 2020 project The History of Human Freedom and Dignity in Western Civilization ( Marie Skłodowska Curie Innovative Training Network at the European Commission) since 2016 . Since 2018 he has been teaching as a professor for modern church history in Halle. Since 2018 he has been Managing Director of the Interdisciplinary Center for Pietism Research.
