The Peace of Kardis ( Russian : Кардисский мир) formally ended the Russo-Swedish War in 1661 , a partial conflict of the Second Northern War that lasted from 1656 to 1658. It was concluded between Tsarist Russia and Sweden .

Armistice of Valiesar

The armistice of Valiesar, a town south of Narva , was signed on December 20, 1658. It stipulated that Russia could initially keep the conquered territories in what is now Latvia and Estonia for three years : Koknese , Alūksne , Tartu , Vasknarva and a few other smaller cities.

Peace of Cardis

The peace treaty of Kardis (today: Kärde in the rural municipality of Jõgeva ), a farm in the parish of Laiuse , from June 21st jul. / July 1, 1661 greg. formally sealed the peace between the two countries and confirmed the territorial changes of the Stolbowo Peace Treaty (1617).
