Friedenskirche (Hamburg-St. Pauli)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Friedenskirche in St. Pauli

The Friedenskirche in St. Pauli is one of three church buildings of the Evangelical-Lutheran congregation Altona-Ost - the other two parish churches are St. Johannis and the Church of Silence . The brick church was built from 1893 to 1895 according to plans by Johannes Otzen in the neo-Romanesque style and is now a listed building . The Friedenskirche is located on a pentagonal square formed by Otzenstraße and Am Brunnenhof. The church was badly damaged in air raids in 1943 and rebuilt in different ways until 1955. Instead of the original organ from the Dinse brothers, an instrument from the workshop of EF Walcker & Cie. built-in.
