Friederike Lienig
Friederike Lienig , born Berg (born November 27 . Jul / 8. December 1790 greg. In Forstei Dubena ; † 7. June 1855 in Dresden ) was a German-Baltic Lepidopterologin (Butterfly Kund activist).
Life
The chief forester's daughter Friederike Berg received home tuition and married the pastor in Kokenhusen Georg Friedrich Lienig († 1847) on August 18, 1827 . As a widow, she first lived in Halle (Saale) , then in Dresden.
Through self-study and guidance, especially from Philipp Christoph Zeller , she became an excellent expert on the butterfly fauna in Livonia and Courland . She corresponded with numerous entomologists in Germany and from 1836 was a member of the Kurland Society for Literature and Art in Mitau as well as the Entomological Society in Stettin and the Society Isis in Dresden.
Four species of butterflies are named after Lienig.
