Daleu cemetery
The Daleu cemetery is a park-like grave complex with bypass walls in the Grisons canton capital Chur . It is located northwest of the main train station in the Rheinquartier at Rheinstrasse 26 .
History and layout
The cemetery was inaugurated in 1862 and replaced the previous Scaletta cemetery, which was rededicated as the city garden . The Daleu cemetery has been structured by a large crossroads since it was founded. From 1876 to 1877 the facility was expanded and extended to the northeast.
Important graves
Among other things, the former noble families Salis and Planta , who determined the fate of the Graubünden Free State for centuries and still the young canton of Graubünden, built tombs in the style of historicism .
chapel
The chapel from the end of the 19th century is externally a neo-Romanesque building, which is designed with elements of Art Nouveau on the inside . The glass painting is by Karl Wehrli and was made between 1898 and 1900. Decorative painting by Christian Conradin completed the interior in 1908.
