The Friedrich-August-Schacht was a coal mine of Potschappler share association . The shaft was located in the central part of the hard coal deposit of the Döhlen Basin on Potschappler Flur.

history

The owner of the Potschappel manor, Ernst Heinrich Freiherr von Hagen, began digging the shaft in 1795 . The at 230  m above sea level. The shaft set up above sea level reached a depth of 78.70 meters. The first seam was cut at about 73 meters  . The second seam, which was cut at approx. 77 meters, was 1.40 meters thick . The Potschappler Stolln, which comes in at a depth of 77.60 meters, served to drain the pit field .

The shaft was sunk primarily to supply a vitriol boiler. After several changes of ownership, the mine field and the shaft were sold to the Potschappler Aktienverein by the current owner of the Potschappel manor, Johann Gustav Klette, in 1836. In 1837 the shaft was dropped. The total output during the operating period was 13,984 tons.
