Friedrich Alexander Buhse

Friedrich Alexander Buhse (Fedor Aleksandrovitch Buhse, Buz (s) e) (* November 18 . Jul / the thirtieth November  1821 greg. In Riga ; † 29. December 1898 ) was a Baltic German botanist and plant collector. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Buhse ".

Life

Buhse studied natural sciences from 1840 to 1842 in Dorpat , then in Heidelberg , where he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD. From 1847 to 1849 he traveled to Persia for botanical purposes. After 1856 he lived as a landowner in Livonia . He was an honorary member of the Natural Science Society in St. Petersburg , Dorpat and Riga.

Honors

The genus Buhsea Bunge from the plant family of the capers (Capparaceae) is named after him.
