Friedrich August Jost

Friedrich August Jost (born June 18, 1774 in the county of Solms-Laubach , † June 23, 1830 in Berleburg ) was a councilor to the Prince of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and later district administrator of the Wittgenstein district .

Life

Friedrich August Jost was the son of a principal of the Latin school in Laubach. He studied Protestant theology in Gießen in 1792 and became a prince educator in Berleburg in 1795 . In 1803 he finished studying law in Marburg.

Jost was court master of the Prince of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and in 1805 was appointed grand ducal government councilor and judicial officer in Berleburg. Thus he was a member of the Wittgenstein government and the consistory in Berleburg.

From July 1, 1817 to 1830, he was district administrator for the Wittgenstein district. His successor was Wilhelm Groos .

Jost married the writer and poet Elise Sommer on July 6, 1806 in Marburg . They separated after a short time and the marriage was dissolved for unknown reasons before June 6, 1809. Her marriage to Florentine Christiane Jüngst (1770–1847) had five children.
