Friedrich Brüne

Friedrich Brüne (born October 23, 1878 in Usseln , Kr. Waldeck, † February 13, 1965 in Bremen ) was a German moor researcher and soil scientist .

Life

Brüne, son of a farmer, studied at the Agricultural University in Berlin , received his doctorate there in 1907 with the dissertation Studies on the influence of the climate on the flourishing of bog meadows and bog pastures and then worked as a researcher at the Association for the Promotion of Bog Culture in the German Empire . Later he was head of the agricultural department at the Bremen moor research station . From 1929 to 1948 he was Bruno Tacke's successor and headed this station as director.

Brüne mainly dealt with questions of the agricultural use of the bog soils and published several books about it. The number of his practice-related articles in specialist journals is almost impossible to miss.
