Bruno Tacke

Bruno Tacke (born August 26, 1861 in Wissen an der Sieg ; † October 28, 1942 in Hohenlimburg near Hagen / Westphalia ) was a German moor researcher and soil scientist .

biography

Tacke studied since 1880 Science in Giessen and Berlin and in 1884 with the animal physiological dissertation About the importance of combustible gases in the animal organism at the University of Berlin Dr. phil. PhD. During his studies in Giessen he became a member of the Academic-Natural Science Association in the winter semester of 1880/81 , which later became the Frankonia Giessen student union , from which he left around 1905. After four years as an assistant at the agricultural chemistry laboratory of the Agricultural Academy Bonn-Poppelsdorf , he got a job in 1889 as the first assistant at the peat research station in Bremen . From October 1891 to October 1929 he was the head of this research station, which under his aegis developed into an important scientific institution.

With his research work, Tacke made a significant contribution to the fact that the agricultural cultivation and utilization methods on the various bog locations could be further improved. Tacke has edited several books on bog culture and published over 300 scientific articles. Most of them appeared in the communications of the Association for the Promotion of Moor Culture in the German Empire . In 1912, Tacke founded the Yearbook of Moorkunde , which he edited alone for many years, most recently with Friedrich Brüne .
