Friedrich Burmeister (actor)

Friedrich Burmeister ( March 16, 1771 in Schwerin ; August 12, 1851 in Dresden ) was a German theater actor , director and singer ( tenor ).

Life

Burmeister, the son of a ducal official, was destined to enter the ducal service as well. But he found more taste in artistic life and so he turned to the stage in 1794. He made his debut on 15/16. 1794 with Johann Ferdinand Kübler in Bützow in a comedy 25 years ago , then joined the traveling actor company Gudermann, with whom he stayed until 1796. In the following year he became a member of the ducal stage in Schwerin, where he stayed until it was dissolved (1800). There he also directed. Then he followed a call to the court theater in Schleswig, where he also persevered until it was dissolved (1807). He then took on engagement in Bremen, stayed there from 1808 to 1811 and in August 1811 followed a call to the court theater directed by Franz Seconda in Dresden, where he remained until his retirement in 1845. On February 15, 1844, he celebrated his 50th anniversary on the stage and soon retired. He stayed in Dresden until his death.

His first son Friedrich Franz (1803 – after 1831) also became a singer and actor, his second son Ludewig Peter August (both from his marriage to the actress L (o) uise Catharina Marie Burmeister, née Janßen) became a writer and painter known by his pseudonym Johann Peter Lyser (1804–1870). The writer Karoline Pierson was his daughter-in-law through her marriage to Johann Peter.
