Friedrich Carl von Scheidlin (born November 15, 1822 in Vienna ; † August 26, 1913 in Sankt Georgen ) was an Austrian painter, watercolourist and draftsman, who worked mainly in Slovakia from 1860 onwards.

Friedrich Carl von Scheidlin studied from 1843 to 1849 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Johann Matthias Ranftl and continued his studies in Munich. From 1849 to 1860 he taught drawing as an officer at an Austrian cadet school .

From 1860 he worked in Bratislava (German Pressburg, Hungarian Pozsony) in what was then the Kingdom of Hungary and spent a considerable part of the year in Svätý Jur near Bratislava.

He painted military genre scenes, still lifes and hunting scenes as well as landscapes. His works were influenced by the art of Biedermeier and Romanticism .

He participated in the exhibitions of the Art Association in Bratislava , In the 1880s he exhibited his works in the Műcsarnok Art Hall Budapest . Most of his works can be found in Slovak museums and private art collections.
