Franz Anton Jakob Hieronimus von Lamberg (born September 30, 1678 in Steyr , † August 23, 1759 in Vienna) was a German imperial prince .

Life

Franz Anton, Imperial Count von Lamberg, 1712 3rd Prince von Lamberg and Landgrave von Leuchtenberg, Baron on Ortenegg and Ottenstein, came from the older princely line of the House of Lamberg . He was the twelfth child and the third son of Count Franz Joseph von Lamberg -Steyr (1637–1712) from his marriage to Anna Maria Countess Trautmannsdorf-Weinsberg (1642–1727), a daughter of the Bohemian governor Adam Matthias von Trauttmansdorff (1617– 1684). The Passau prince-bishop and cardinal Joseph Dominikus von Lamberg (1680–1761) and his suffragan bishop Franz Alois von Lamberg (1692–1732) were his brothers, as were Johann Philipp von Lamberg (1684–1735) and Johann Ferdinand von Lamberg (1689–1764) .

Franz Anton was brought up together with his two years younger brother Joseph Dominikus and destined for a spiritual career, probably because the means for a secular career were lacking. In 1695 he was sworn up as Domicellar in Passau and at the same time received the Mattsee provost's office . But since he did not feel called to be a clergyman, he resigned both positions in 1698 in favor of his brother Joseph Dominikus. After returning from a so-called cavalier tour in 1700 , he joined the imperial army as a captain (captain). In 1705 he was arrested by Bavarian farmers as a lieutenant colonel in Altheim in the Innviertel , but was soon released again. He later fought in Hungary, Northern Italy and Naples until he resigned as General Field Sergeant in 1725 .

After the death of his uncle, Cardinal Johann Philipp von Lamberg , on 20 October 1712 inherited the Fideikommissbestimmungen accordance with its Bohemian possessions Schichowitz , Raby and Zihobetz and after his father's death on November 2, 1712 as his two older brothers Leopold Matthias († 1711) and Johann Adam (* July 15, 1677 Steyr; † 1708) had died long before him, the Majorat Steyr , the dignity of prince and the Landgraviate of Leuchtenberg , which was given to his brother Leopold Mathias by Emperor Joseph I. Peace Treaty of Rastatt 1714 had to cede again to Kurbayern . However, the dignity of prince remained in the family until 1877.

Prince Franz Anton was Obersterblandstallmeister in the Duchy of Carniola and in the Windischen Mark , Obersterblandkämmerer and Obersterblandjägermeister in the Duchy of Austria ob der Enns , hereditary seat of the Archbishopric of Salzburg , Hereditary Marshal of the Hochstift Passau , Knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece (investiture on January 6, 1744 in the Augustinian Church ) and real Privy Councilor and Colonel stable master of the widowed Empress Elisabeth Christine von Braunschweig (Wolfenbüttel).

From his two marriages, in 1713 with Ludovica Friederike Ernestine, Princess of Hohenzollern-Hechingen († October 21, 1720), daughter of Prince Friedrich Wilhelm , and in 1721 with Maria Aloisia Countess Harrach (1702–1775), daughter of Count Alois Raimund Harrach , he had nine children, but with his youngest son Johann Friedrich Joseph (February 24, 1737 to December 15, 1797) the branch of the male line died out. The dignity of prince passed to Karl Eugen von Lamberg , a descendant of his uncle Kaspar Friedrich.

He died on August 23, 1759 in Vienna and was buried in the Augustinian Church.
