Friedrich Conzen

Friedrich Gottlieb "Fritz" Conzen (born April 2, 1913 in Düsseldorf ; † August 2, 2006 there ) was a German entrepreneur and association official.

Life

Conzen, son of Adolf Conzen and Eleonore geb. Wehner, after graduating from high school in 1932, studied art history, history and business administration in Bonn, Cologne and Munich. In 1934 he joined the family company FG Conzen, which was founded in 1854, and in 1941, after Adolf Conzen's death, he took over the management of the company in the fourth generation. After the business premises at Kasernenstrasse 13 on the corner of Grabenstrasse were destroyed in 1943, he rebuilt the company after the war.

In 1969 he became president of the Main Association of German Retailers (HDE) , which he remained for 15 years. In 1984 he became its honorary president. Conzen was also President of the Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce and Industry , the Franco-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a member of the board of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) .

He was a member of the Catholic student union K.St.V. Westmark Bonn in the KV . In 1963 he was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Eugène Tisserant and invested in Cologne Cathedral on December 7, 1963 by Lorenz Cardinal Jaeger , Grand Prior of the Order. Most recently he was a Grand Officer of the Order.

Conzen had been married to Edeltrude Pfreundschuh since October 2, 1942 and had five children (Verena, Friedrich-Georg, Mechthild, Ursula, Brigitte).
