Friedrich Dörr (chemist)

Friedrich Dörr (born December 13, 1921 in Landsberg am Lech ; † August 17, 2018 ) was a German physical chemist .

Life

Friedrich Dörr, son of a railroad worker, was drafted into military service in 1941 after attending the Augsburg secondary school . While participating in the Russian campaign in 1943 in the Caucasus, he was seriously wounded and lost his left arm. From 1944 he studied physics at the Technical University in Munich . After graduating, he was able to do his doctorate in 1953 under Günter Scheibe at the Institute for Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry. In 1958 he completed his habilitation.

Dörr was appointed associate professor in 1965 combined with a call to the associate professor at the Institute for Physical Chemistry at the Technical University of Munich. The associate professor was raised to full professorship in 1966 and a second chair for physical chemistry was set up for Friedrich Dörr.
