Friedrich Ernst von Fabrice (born June 1683 in Celle ; † February 2, 1750 in Lüneburg ) was a German diplomat.

Life

Friedrich Ernst was a son of Weipart Ludwig von Fabrice . After attending the Knight Academy in Lüneburg, he went to the University of Kiel in 1703 . In 1706 he was on a diplomatic mission to Altranstädt in the headquarters of Karl XII. posted.

After Charles' defeat in the Battle of Poltava , Fabrice met the king in Bender , stayed with him for four years and won his trust.

Fabrice returned to Germany in November 1714. On behalf of Baron Georg Heinrich von Görtz , Fabrice tried to bring England closer to Sweden, but broke off this mission after the death of Karl and the killing of Goertz. He was then chamberlain to George I at the London court. Here he met Voltaire from 1726 to 1729 , to whom he worked on the work "Histoire de Charles XII" (2 volumes, 1731).

After the death of George I, Fabrice returned home in 1729 and wrote his memoirs.
