Friedrich Gustav Winkelmann (born November 18, 1795 in Minden ; † March 7, 1851 in Bremen ) was a German businessman and Bremen politician.

biography

Winkelmann became a citizen of Bremen in 1825. Together with Gerhard von Tungeln, he founded the Winkelmann & von Tungeln company , which traded in coffee, primarily from Haiti , but also in cotton, tobacco, sugar and hides. To this end, the Winkelmann shipping company was founded. For several years he was also the agent of the Association of Private Assecuradeurs (independent insurance agents ).

In 1833 he was elected to the Bremen Citizens ' Convention , which later became the Bremen Citizenship . From 1848 to 1849 he worked in Frankfurt am Main with the Reich Minister for Trade and Navy and later Bremen Mayor Arnold Duckwitz . After the failure of the Frankfurt National Assembly , he returned to Bremen in 1849. Since 1848 he was a member of the plenum of the newly established Bremen Chamber of Commerce . In 1850 he was a member of the Erfurt Union Parliament , an assembly of parliamentarians who, after the failure of the Frankfurt National Assembly, unsuccessfully wanted to achieve a constitution for a small German empire under Prussian leadership.
