Friedrich Hellwig

Friedrich Hellwig (born August 31, 1807 in Berlin ; † September 8, 1862 there ) was a Prussian ministerial official.

Life

Friedrich Hellwig was born the son of the Privy Councilor of Justice Karl Hellwig and was a nephew of the composer Ludwig Hellwig . He studied at the University of Bonn and became a member of the Corps Borussia Bonn in 1826 . After completing his studies, he became an auscultator at the Berlin City Court in 1828 and trainee lawyer at the Court of Appeal in 1830. In 1834 he became an assessor. In 1835 he joined the Prussian Foreign Office as an auxiliary expedition. In 1836 he became a travel agent. In 1839 he was promoted to the Legation Council and in 1843 to the Real Legation Council. In 1845 he became a member of the higher censorship court. In 1854 he was appointed head of department. In 1858 he became curator of the Legation Treasury. From 1814 to 1832 he was a member of the Berlin Singakademie and a longstanding member of its board of directors. He was married to his cousin Elisabeth Hellwig and had four sons with her, including the politician Otto Hellwig and the architect Moritz Hellwig .
