Friedrich Hohenschwert

Friedrich Hohenschwert (originally Friedrich Heuwinkel, born March 23, 1921 in Oesterholz , † May 21, 2003 in Detmold ) was a German prehistoric scientist .

Life

Friedrich Hohenschwert grew up on a farm in the Oesterholzer Senne . From 1939 on he studied prehistory and early history with Hans Reinerth in Berlin until the war forced him to abandon. After the war he trained as an agricultural engineer . From 1964 he took up his studies again, this time in Cologne. In 1978 he did his dissertation on "Prehistoric and early historical fortifications in Lippe".

As the successor to Leo Nebelsiek, he headed the prehistoric and early history department of the Lippisches Landesmuseum in Detmold from 1968 and was director of the museum from 1976 to 1986. His successor as head of the museum was Rainer Springhorn .
