Friedrich Hoppichler (born April 28, 1959 in Vöcklabruck ) is an Austrian internist , diabetologist , endocrinologist and cardiologist . He is Primarius of the Department of Internal Medicine in the Hospital of the Barmherzigen Brüder in Salzburg and medical director of the Hospital of the Barmherzigen Brüder in Salzburg. In addition, he is the board member of the scientific, preventive medicine institute SIPCAN - Initiative for a Healthy Life (Special Institute for Preventive Cardiology and Nutrition).

Career

Hoppichler studied medicine at the University of Innsbruck , where he obtained his doctorate in 1987. In 1993 he completed his specialist training as a specialist in internal medicine at the Innsbruck University Hospital and received the venia docendi . In 1995 and 1998 respectively the additive specialist for cardiology and the additive specialist for endocrinology and metabolic diseases followed. Since 1999, Hoppichler has been the head of the internal medicine department and head of the medical-chemical laboratory at the Barmherzigen Brüder hospital in Salzburg . In 2005, together with Monika Lechleitner, he founded the scientific preventive medical institute SIPCAN (Special Institute for Preventive Cardiology and Nutrition) as an initiative for a healthy life. Since 2008 he has also been the medical director of the Barmherzigen Brüder Hospital in Salzburg. Since 2012 he has also been an additive specialist in geriatrics and gerontology . He also has a diploma in palliative medicine and an environmental doctor diploma from the Austrian Medical Association.

Hoppichler was first secretary of the Austrian Diabetes Society and for many years a member of the board of the Austrian Diabetes Society. He was President of the Diabetes Education Study Group Austria (DESG), Working group of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes and Vice President of the Austrian Lipid Forum. He was also head of the “Prevention and Atherosclerosis” working group of the Austrian Society for Cardiology, European Fellow of the SCOPE Program of the International Association for the Study of Obesity (IASO) and deputy. Working group leader of the working group Prevention, Rehabilitation and Sports Cardiology of the Austrian Cardiological Society.

Hoppichler is currently President of the Austrian Obesity Society.

He is also a member of international and national scientific societies. In addition, he is a member of the State Medical Council of the Federal State of Salzburg and representative of the teaching hospitals of the Paracelsus Medical Private University Salzburg.
