Friedrich Jacob Behrend

Friedrich Jacob Behrend (born June 12, 1803 in Neustettin , † May 30, 1889 in Berlin ) was a German medic . He was a senior physician at the moral police in Berlin and has emerged as an author and magazine editor.

Life

Behrend was initially intended to be a businessman and from 1819 initially worked in a commercial enterprise in Königsberg in Prussia . After two years he gave up this activity and then studied medicine at the Albertus University in Königsberg from 1823 . In 1826 he was promoted to Dr. med. et surgeon. PhD. After an extensive scientific journey, he settled in Berlin in 1826.

In Berlin he was appointed senior physician to the moral police and remained so until his death. In 1876 he was awarded the title of Secret Medical Council.

Behrend was co-editor of the Journal for Teething and the Journal for State Medicines . He was the author of numerous medical writings.

Behrend had been married to Hannchen Fraenkel, daughter of the banker Hirsch Meyer Fraenkel, since 1832. The lawyer and judge Jacob Friedrich Behrend (1833-1907) was his son.
