Friedrich Küppersbusch

Friedrich Küppersbusch (born July 10, 1832 in Werden (Ruhr) , † April 29, 1907 in Düsseldorf ) was a German locksmith , designer and entrepreneur . In 1875 he founded the F. Küppersbusch & Sons stove factory in Schalke , which for decades had been one of the leading manufacturers of cookers, ovens and large kitchen equipment.

Life

Friedrich Küppersbusch was born the son of a locksmith. He followed his father's profession and initially ran his own locksmith 's shop in Richrath . There he mainly manufactured padlocks and door locks. In 1874 he started the manual production of coal stoves and coal stoves. In the following year, he and his sons founded a company for hardware and household items in what would later be the Gelsenkirchen district of Schalke. At the same time, he began designing cookers, which went into series production in 1880. Shortly afterwards, Küpperbusch had a new manufacturing facility built. In 1898 the company started manufacturing large kitchen appliances, room and gas stoves. The company F. Küppersbusch & Sons was converted into a stock corporation. With around 2,000 employees, it was the largest special factory for cooking appliances of all kinds in Germany at Küppersbusch's death.
