biography

Klippert was the third of nine children born to his parents Gustav and Clementine, who had come to Vegesack from Fritzlar . After completing his training at secondary school and doing a commercial apprenticeship, Klippert first worked as an accountant in Bremen. The Bremen-Vegesacker-Fischerei-Gesellschaft was founded in 1895 to revive cargo handling in the Vegesacker port . This had shifted upstream due to the Weser correction in the port of Bremen. As the first director of the newly founded company, he led the herring catch with the herring loggers used for this purpose . His company manufactured barrels, boxes, nets and other accessories for herring fishing. Under his leadership, the company grew into one of the largest German fishing companies, increasing the number of loggers in use from 4 (1895) to 41 (1914). The company is expanded, connected to the railway network and cold stores expanded. From 1907 Klippert bought houses for his own account, which he made available to the workers and employees of the company.

With the help of the German Reich , Klippert survived the difficult crisis years of the First World War, during which the fishing operation was inactive .

Klippert died about 10 months after his wife Henriette, with whom he had three children. He was buried in the Vegesack cemetery. The company he built and headed for almost 40 years later became the largest herring fishing company in Europe.
