Friedrich Knorr

Friedrich Knorr (born November 10, 1904 in Neustadt near Coburg , † April 1, 1978 in Coburg ) was a German politician of the CSU .

Life and work

After attending the Oberrealschule in Coburg, Knorr switched to the Realgymnasium in Sonneberg , where he graduated from high school. He then studied philosophy, sociology, history and German in Erlangen , Marburg , Cologne , Bonn and Leipzig . He received his doctorate in Marburg in 1929 and then completed his library training in Erfurt and Leipzig. From 1932 he was university librarian in Leipzig. In 1941 he was appointed director of the Rothschild library in Frankfurt am Main , which had been called the Library for Modern Languages ​​and Music since 1935 , and in this function was also the deputy director of the overall administration of the Frankfurt libraries. From 1943 on he was in charge of the relocation of the Frankfurt library holdings to Upper Franconia, where the administration of the Frankfurt libraries was also located in Mitwitz from 1944 onwards. In 1944 he was accepted into the academy of non-profit science in Erfurt .

At the beginning of March 1945, Knorr was called up for military service and became an American prisoner of war. After returning from captivity, he took over the management of the state library in Coburg in 1949.

MP

Knorr was a member of the German Bundestag from 1957 to 1965. As a member of the CSU, he represented the Coburg constituency . From 1961 to 1965 he headed the Bundestag Library Council.
