Friedrich Kramer (civil engineer)
Friedrich "Fritz" Kramer (* 19th century ; † 20th century ) was a German civil engineer and architect in German South West Africa and Kiautschou .
Kramer built the Schantung railway line and various bridges in Kiautschou, probably between 1904 and 1908 .
In 1908 Kramer moved to German South West Africa where he worked for the Hamburg company FH Schmidt . He was originally sent there to win the tender for the construction of the "Jetty" landing stage in Swakopmund . From 1909 to 1912 he was a councilor of the local city administration. In the meantime, he operated a less profitable salt production plant not far from Goanikontes , the remains of which are also still visible (as of June 2020).
The district of Kramersdorf in Swakopmund is named after Kramer .
Between 1908 and 1914, Kramer designed and built numerous buildings that have survived to this day, especially in Swakopmund and Lüderitz , including:
- Swakopmund
- Evangelical Lutheran Church Swakopmund (1909–1912), designed by Otto Ertl
- Kramersdorf House (1912)
- Namib High School
- Building of the FNB Namibia
- Luderitz
