Friedrich Lexow

Friedrich Lexow (born January 29, 1827 in Tönning , † December 3, 1872 in New York ) was a German-American writer, journalist and poet.

Life

He was the cousin of Rudolf Lexow (1829-1909).

Friedrich was a supporter of the revolution of 1848 and had published the newspaper Das Volk in Rendsburg (with Harro Harring ). After the failed revolution, he was arrested. He was initially sentenced to eight years in prison and then pardoned to one year in prison . After his release he came to America in 1853 to his cousin Rudolf, who was the editor of the fiction journal there. Friedrich came to the editorial office of the Criminal Zeitung . He added the fiction journal and a political review. From there the newspaper was called the New York Criminal Newspaper and the Belletristic Journal .

After his death, Rudolf Lexow continued to run the newspaper.
