Friedrich Ludwig Karl of Prussia
Friedrich Ludwig Karl von Prussia , called Prince Louis or Louis von Prussia (born November 5, 1773 in Potsdam , † December 28, 1796 in Berlin ) was a Prussian prince and major general .
Life
Ludwig was the second son of King Friedrich Wilhelm II of Prussia (1744–1797) from his second marriage to Friederike (1751–1805), daughter of Landgrave Ludwig IX. from Hessen-Darmstadt . His second uncle, only a year older, Prince Friedrich Ludwig Christian of Prussia - son of Prince Ferdinand - was called Prince Louis Ferdinand throughout his life to distinguish him from Louis .
In December 1793 his older brother Friedrich Wilhelm and he married two daughters of Duke Karl II of Mecklenburg and his first wife, Princess Friederike von Hessen-Darmstadt . On December 24th, Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm and Princess Luise married . On December 26th, Prince Louis married the younger of the two sisters, Princess Friederike (1778–1841).
In 1795, the king appointed Prince Louis as chief of Dragoon Regiment No. 1 , whose staff was stationed in Schwedt . He appointed Lieutenant Friedrich Heinrich Karl von Hünerbein to be his companion and adjutant .
In 1796, Prince Louis fell ill with diphtheria , to which he succumbed shortly afterwards.
His widow Princess Friederike married Prince Friedrich Wilhelm zu Solms-Braunfels in 1798 . Her third marriage was in 1815, when she married Ernst August Duke of Cumberland. With his accession to the throne in 1837 as King Ernst August I of Hanover , she became Queen of Hanover .
