Friedrich Münichsdorfer (born September 5, 1828 in Staatz , Lower Austria , † October 9, 1874 in Hüttenberg , Carinthia ) was an Austrian mountain administrator and historian.

Life

Münichsdorfer's father was an estate manager, which enabled him to study technology at the Joanneum in Graz and to attend the mountain and hut course in Leoben . From 1852 he was mountain and hut adjunct at the Radgewerkschaft Compagnie Rauscher in the Hüttenberg companies in the Heft and Mosinz, from 1858 mountain administrator and from 1864 administrator in Heft. After the founding of the Hüttenberger Eisenwerk-Gesellschaft in 1869, he was promoted to chief miner of the Hüttenberger Erzberg .

Münichsdorfer carried out numerous technical and administrative reforms in the area of ​​the Hüttenberger Erzberg - these included extensive day conveyor systems. He had the first Bessemer pear in Carinthia in the booklet (1863/1864), the second in Austria at all, put into operation. He wrote the "History of the Hüttenberger Erzberg", in which he used numerous original documents, some of which have now been lost. From 1859 Münichsdorfer also worked at the Natural History Museum in Klagenfurt and made a name for himself as a geologist and mineralogist through his mining publications.
