Friedrich Moest (actor)

Friedrich Moest (born July 28, 1866 in Karlsruhe , † January 25, 1948 in Berlin ) was a German actor , director and teacher.

Life

Moest was born the son of the Karlsruhe sculptor Karl Friedrich Moest (1838–1923). In his first acting years from 1887 to 1899 Moest was on stage in the Hanau Theater, Oldenburg Theater, Wiesbaden Residenztheater and under the direction of Wilhelm "Willi" Hasemanns (1843-1910) also in the Thalia Theater in Berlin . At the latter he also worked as a senior director.

Moest married on June 24, 1897 the singing teacher and opera singer Else Schoch-Moest (nee Schoch, 1870-1954). In 1899, Emanuel Reicher (1849–1924) founded the Reichersche Academy for Dramatic Art together with Moest in Berlin . In 1901 Moest and his wife became the director and owner of this facility. Here, the actors Grete Mosheim (1905–1986), Paul Hermann Bildt (1885–1957), Ernst Wilhelm Borchert (1907–1990) and Erich Dunskus (1890–1967) were trained by them.

In addition, Moest was artistic director at the Neue Freie Volksbühne and freelance lecturer for lecture art at the Freie Hochschule Berlin and the Humboldt Academy .

Moest lived in Berlin at Prager Str. 30 III.

Moest's brothers were the sculptor Hermann Moest and the opera singer Rudolf Moest .
