Frailea phaeodisca is a species of plant in the genus Frailea from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Frailea phaeodisca grows individually with flattened spherical, dark gray-green bodies. The bodies reach a diameter of 2 to 7 centimeters. Most of the 30 ribs are divided into low humps. The areoles on it are brownish black. The 6 to 12 whitish, 1 to 4 millimeter long spines cannot be divided into central and radial spines.

The yellow flowers reach a diameter of up to 4 centimeters.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Frailea phaeodisca is distributed in Uruguay in the departments of Rivera , Tacuarembó , Durazno , Cerro Largo and Lavalleja and in Brazil in the state of Rio Grande do Sul . The first description was published in 1923 by Carlo Luigi Spegazzini .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is the species as " Vulnerable (VU) ", d. H. listed as endangered.
