Friedrich Osann (born February 19, 1838 in Zellerfeld in the Harz Mountains , † December 27, 1909 in Hanover ) was a German mining company and the first managing director of the Association of German Ironworkers and editor of the magazine Stahl und Eisen from its first publication in 1881 to the end of 1884.

Life

Friedrich Osann joined the Essen- based Krupp'sche Gussstahlfabrik in the late 1860s, where he was involved in setting up the first Siemens-Martin furnaces .

Osann's son Bernhard Osann also devoted himself to metallurgy .

In 1872 Friedrich Osann settled down as a civil engineer in the city of Düsseldorf , where eight years later from 1880 he was managing director of the Association of German Ironworkers and from the following year 1881 was appointed the first editor of the magazine "Stahl und Eisen".

In 1885 Osann moved to Hanover , where he again worked as a civil engineer.
