Bernhard Osann (born August 27, 1862 in Hanover , † April 4, 1940 in Berlin ) was a German metallurgist .

Life

Osann studied at the Berlin Mining Academy with Hermann Wedding and worked as a metallurgical engineer in Upper Silesia and the Rhineland. After completing his habilitation in 1902 , he taught from 1903 to 1927 as a professor of metallurgy and foundry at the Clausthal Mining Academy . He was deputy director of the Clausthal mining academy until 1916. His efforts to become Julius Fischer's successor in the rector's office were thwarted by the reorganization of Prussia and the introduction of an election rectorate order on May 14, 1919.

On October 23, 1914, he was a co-signer of a declaration by the university professors of the German Reich for Prussian militarism.

His son Bernhard Osann (1895–1974) was also a metallurgical expert.
