Friedrich Prot von Kunow

Friedrich Prot von Kunow (born December 30, 1944 in Guben , Brandenburg ) is a former German diplomat . From September 2004 to 2009 he was ambassador to Brazil .

Life

Prot von Kunow from the House of Bomsdorf studied law at the universities of Göttingen and Bonn .

After joining the Foreign Service in 1974, he was employed in the office of a Minister of State in the Foreign Office , at the Consulate General in São Paulo (Consul) and in the Foreign Office in Bonn (Human Resources subdivision).

From 1983 to 1986 Prot von Kunow was the ambassador's permanent representative in Zimbabwe . It was then used again in the Foreign Office (central department). From 1990 to 1993 he was Head of the Permanent Mission to the OECD in Paris . This was followed by a position as head of a department in the central department (department 1) of the Foreign Office until 1998 .

From 1998 to 2001, Prot von Kunow was Head of Division 110 (Organization) in the central department of the Foreign Office. During this time he was also head of the commission for the organization and implementation of the relocation of the Foreign Office from Bonn to Berlin . Subsequently, in 2001, he was also responsible for reforming the Foreign Service. From 2001 to September 2004 Prot von Kunow was General Inspector of the Foreign Office and head of sub-department I-1 (organizational advice, internal auditing and corruption prevention) of the Foreign Office. He was then Ambassador to Brasília until his retirement .
