Friedrich Retter

Friedrich Jakob Retter (born February 14, 1816 in Geradstetten , † February 22, 1891 in Ellwangen ) was a postman , innkeeper and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

From 1838 to 1866 Retter was a post holder, inn and estate owner. He later owned a wholesaling wine shop and was a landowner. He was a member of the Württemberg railway construction council for the transport authorities and deputy of an advisory board for the central office for agriculture. He was also a member of the property tax assessment commission for the district of Ellwangen and a committee member for the agricultural district association, as well as deputy for the board of the agricultural association Ellwangen (technical director). Retter was an elected delegate at the Württemberg stud farm to advise the interests of horse breeding. He was also a member of the commission for the Württemberg Central Fund for the Promotion of Fire Extinguishing and for many years commanding the Ellwangen volunteer fire brigade . He was a member of the Stuttgart Freemason Lodge to the three cedars .

Rescuers were politically active in the People's Party . From 1870 to 1881 he was a member of the Second Württemberg Chamber and from 1877 to 1878 and from 1881 to 1884 of the German Reichstag, first for the constituency of Württemberg 5 (Esslingen - Kirchheim - Nürtingen), from 1881 to 1884 he represented the constituency of Württemberg 2 ( Cannstatt - Ludwigsburg - Marbach).

He is a maternal uncle of the local poet Julie Kern from Winterbach.
