Friedrich Rieck

Friedrich Rieck (* 1809 in Vitzdorf on Fehmarn ; † March 6, 1878 in Lübeck ) was a German philologist and parliamentarian.

Life

From 1829 Rieck studied Protestant theology and philology at the Universities of Kiel and Jena. In 1833 he was initially unable to take the First Theological Exam because of an official investigation into participation in a student association , but then took it in 1834 with the permission of the authorities. During the investigation, which continued until 1837, he initially worked as a tutor. Rieck was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD; However, he was denied a university career for political reasons. From 1838 to 1845 he became a teacher (collaborator) at the school of scholars in Flensburg , then from 1845 to 1851 rector of the Lauenburg school of scholars in Ratzeburg and from 1851 to 1857 director of the grammar school in Zwickau .

From 1848 to 1851 Rieck was a member of the state assembly in the Duchy of Saxony-Lauenburg .
