Friedrich Straetmanns (born August 5, 1961 in Bielefeld ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ) and a member of the German Bundestag .

biography

After completing his military service, Friedrich Straetmanns studied law and political science from 1982 to 1989 with a legal clerkship. Afterwards he worked briefly as a lawyer, then until 1992 at the Diakonisches Werk . He then became a judge at the Detmold Social Court. He also served as chairman of the joint ecclesiastical administrative court of the Evangelical Reformed Church and the Lippe Regional Church.

Party and politics

Straetmanns belonged to the WASG party from 2005 and had previously been a member of the SPD for 20 years . As a result of the merger of the WASG and PDS parties, he has been a member of Die Linke since 2007. In the 2017 federal elections, he ran for Die Linke in the Bielefeld-Gütersloh II constituency and entered the Bundestag via his party's state list.
