Friedrich Svihalek

Friedrich Svihalek (born July 20, 1958 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). Svihalek was a member of the National Council and the executive city ​​council in Vienna.

Svihalek attended elementary school as well as the lower level of a federal high school and then learned the profession of office clerk at the Länderbank. Subsequently he worked as an employee at the Austrian Länderbank.

Svihalek held the office of federal chairman of the union of private employees between 1980 and 1988 and was national chairman of the ÖGB youth from 1981 to 1987 . Between 1986 and 1989 he worked as a member of the European Commission for Employment Issues ("Kreisky Commission") and in 1989 was elected deputy district chairman of the SPÖ Vienna- Donaustadt . In 1994 he took over the office of district party chairman.

Svihalek was sworn in as a member of the National Council on March 1, 1989, of which he was a member until November 6, 1994. Subsequently, on November 7, 1994, he took over the office of the official city councilor for the environment and transport in the newly formed state government of Häupl I , which he led until 2001.

Since 1999 Svihalek has been a pop singer under the stage name SVI.
