Friedrich Thieme

Friedrich Thieme (born November 23, 1862 in Burgstädt , † 1945 in Jena ) was a German journalist and writer.

Life

Thieme was a son of the master weaver Fritz Thieme and his wife Ida Diesel. He graduated from the community school in his hometown and later moved to a school in Borna near Leipzig . He then completed a commercial apprenticeship and also worked in this industry for some time. Around 1883 he began to work as a freelancer in several regional newspapers.

In the spring of 1891 he settled as a freelance writer in Jena and married Hedwig Römer there on October 10, 1891. He had three children with her: Klara (* 1892), Hedwig (* 1895) and Johann Gottfried (* 1898), who also became a writer.

In addition to his journalistic work, Thieme also created a considerable literary oeuvre over time; mostly short stories and detective novels . Thieme published many of his works under the pseudonyms “F. Clemens "and" H. Romans ". He was chairman of the "Society for Free Ethical Culture" Jena.

He is buried in the north cemetery in Jena.
