Friedrich Tucholski (born November 29, 1887 in Königsberg , † May 12, 1972 in Cologne ) was a German civil engineer and author.

Life

He completed a degree in the construction sector, which he qualified as a Dipl.-Ing. finished. In 1925, Tucholski was commissioned to manage the renovation / reconstruction of the historic Marienkirche in Torgau . After the successful completion, further orders followed at Hartenfels Castle and other objects. Therefore, Torgau settled firmly, Tucholski became head of the state building construction office. He was also awarded the title of government building officer for his services . In 1932 he was a member of the district committee for home care in Torgau. Probably due to the decline in construction contracts, Tucholski acquired another residence in Cologne, Xantener Strasse 110, where he can be verified at least since 1938. Nevertheless, he allegedly continued to live in Torgau until shortly after 1945 and only then finally left the city for Cologne. Tucholski worked as a government building officer in Cologne in 1952.

Friedrich Tucholski wrote a very large number of monument and city descriptions, but also published a significant number of articles in specialist journals. These included B .: “ Principles for the treatment of old sandstone architecture ”, in: Die Denkmalpflege, issue 6, p. 211 ff; " The Electoral Saxon castles in the Torgau district ", in: My beautiful home - The Torgau district, 1932; " The Torgau stud farms and Graditz Castle ", in: Die Denkmalpflege, 1933, as well as the article: " Concrete in church construction - a consideration ".

As artistically gifted, Tucholski also made graphics . Two ex-libris from 1915 can be verified, as well as the graphic design of at least one book. That was the work “ Die Flucht ” (1916) by his long-time friend, the writer Ernst Wiechert (pseudonym: Ernst Barany Bjell), who, like him, came from East Prussia and was temporarily in the Buchenwald concentration camp in 1938 because of his political stance.

family

Tucholski was married to Charlotte Fabricius; the couple had a son and two daughters.
