Andrea Ivančević (born August 21, 1984 in Zagreb ) is a Croatian hurdler who specializes in the 100 meter distance .
Athletic career
Her first international championships were the Youth World Championships in 2001 and the Junior World Championships in Kingston in 2002. In both competitions, however, she was eliminated in the preliminary round. Also in 2003 she was eliminated from the qualifying round of the Junior European Championships . In 2005 she took part in the U23 European Championships in Erfurt and also failed there in the first round. In 2006 she managed to qualify for the European Championships in Gothenburg and was eliminated there in the preliminary round. In 2007 she also took part in the Student World Games in Bangkok and did not reach the semi-finals one more time. In 2011 she qualified for the European Indoor Championships in Paris and was eliminated again in the first round.
In 2014 she improved her own national record in the preliminary run at the World Indoor Championships in Sopot, Poland, and with this performance made it to the semi-finals. In 2015 she reached the final of the European Indoor Championships and finished seventh there. At the World Championships in Beijing, she reached the semifinals . During her run, she fell and was the last runner to cross the finish line with a large margin. In 2016, she made it to the finals at the World Indoor Championships in Portland, where she finished fourth. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro it arrived with 12.90 seconds in the semifinals . In 2017 she qualified for the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade , but could not start there due to an injury.
In 2018 she qualified for the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham and made it to the semi-finals there. Then she won the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona in 13.19 s before the Luminosa Bogliolo from Italy and Elisavet Pesiridou from Greece, who arrived at the same time .
At the European Athletics Indoor Championships 2019 Ivančević finished seventh.
Ivančević was Croatian champion in hurdles sprints and over 100 meters from 2003 to 2008 and 2015 to 2016 and 2018 and seven-time indoor champion over 60 meters and 60 meters hurdles between 2002 and 2014.
